POISON IVY by DouglasShuler POISON IVY by DouglasShuler
This piece has been sitting in my sketchbook for almost a year, screaming to be created. I started modelling Poison Ivy with every intention of putting her in a piece with Harley Quinn, but the model was never quite high enough in quality.

Over the last 6 months, I've modelled her from scratch 3 different times, tried several different outfits and textures, multiple hair styles, a dozen different poses, and even a couple alternate backdrops. It just never felt right.

This past weekend, I sequestered myself in my studio and told myself I'd finish her one way or another. Several sleepless nights and it's finally ready to be shared. I have a laundry list of items I'd like to alter/tweak/experiment on, but I have to call it done or I'll end up starting all over again.

*EDIT* - Several comments were made about her hair needing to be more red, so I decided to mess with it a bit and redden it up. I admit, it does look better.

There are lots of female 3D characters out there but just a few of 'em are truly seductive, passionate and provocative POISON IVY by *DouglasShuler is one of them. Besides the hard work that artist put to the art itself, the character has a unique style and soul within. You can "feel" it while looking into her eyes... ( Featured by KeremGo )

It's important for artists to remember that the head is the focal point of any portrait, and the eyes in particular. 'dead' eyes will kill an otherwise impressive piece. I spend a lot of time and effort keeping the faces from looking dull - that's where all the character is.

sorry i featured you in my random ranting about what good 3d work and workflow cos your work is amazing. [link]

its about poser users not using the program right and abusing it....o.o compared to real 3d artists.:) even though your work was not done in poser right? the same work flow can be used with poser to create attractive work. anyway dont worry its a compliment to ya and your amazing work.

Actually, I *did* do the Poison Ivy piece in Poser. However, I spend a lot of time repainting over the render to get rid of the 'Posery' parts and just make it a good image. If you couldn't tell it was Poser, then I succeeded in moving above the tools and into the realm of art.

I feel much like you do - Poser is dangerous in the wrong hands.

OMFG i thin i love you ! lol glad to see someone who used poser in a clever way working above its limitations.

also poser is good for composition saving time rather then drawing out hundreds of different pic you can most like save out poses you use alot and tweak them for each character and it save you time you use it as a tool to help your work rather then harm it and so you are awesome! cos i saw another work that got a DD that was done in poser they guy even used max and he didnt even try using Vray to render it as far as my understand it and i thinks its a horrible render even the composition pose and camera was not that hot and thats that poser makes easy o.o so yeah thank goodness for people like yourself willing to show their passion and pride in their work by improving it rather then just expressing maybe a cool idea poorly

so thank you muchly for understanding what i was tying to get across in this but then again its only the poeople who fail to see the flaws in their work that lash out at me or those that have nothing better to do.

there is a fine line between creativity and quality they work together. .im featuring you here [link] aswell cos you are a prime example or what one can do with poser as a tool.

and seems my first draft was very offencive and alot of poser users got pissed off and attacked like crazed animals so i tried to make it clear and less offencive but yeah honestly think is was the old title of "why poser" the got them all angry without even reading

anyway thanks again and keep up the amazing work. :)
